Snake plants are scientifically known as Sansevieria. And, commonly referred to as mother-in-law’s tongue, Saint George’s sword, or viper’s bowstring hemp. Sansevierias are popularly known for their hardy nature, drought tolerance and low maintenance. In fact, they are perfect plants for the beginner gardener. Furthermore, they are air purification plants. There are over 70 Sansevieria species. Varieties are thick, rigid, and hard leaved.
