Haworthias are succulents in a large genus of small succulent plants. Often mistaken for mini aloe plants, who are members of the same subfamily Asphodeloideae. Unlike aloes, they are typically much smaller and grow much slower. They also have more distinctive flowers than aloes. Native to Southern Africa and they thrive in drought conditions.
Haworthias store water in their bodies which allows them to survive longer periods without water. Most haworthias produce offsets or “pup” that can be separated for propagation. Opposite of most succulents, Haworthias growing season is in winter and they are semi-dormant during the summer.s
