Most varieties of aloe plants have thick fleshy leaves that contain a gel-like substance. Although, aloe species with green leaves are the most common variety. There are also types of red-leaved aloes, golden aloes, and orange aloe plants.
Aloes are a type of flowering succulent, and there are over 500 plants belonging to the Aloe species. In fact, when they flower, aloe plants produce striking red, orange, yellow, or pink flowers. Additionally, Aloe plants are often mistaken for agave plants.
